1929-1930

With only black-and-white photos available from the period, it is a common assumption that the Packers wore blue jerseys when they won their first NFL title in 1929. But the Sept. 29, 1929, Green Bay Press-Gazette stated, "The color scheme of last year has been reversed and the players will wear gold jerseys with blue numerals." For the first time, numerals appeared on the chest. Most pants were likely a tan-colored canvas, but players supplied their own equipment other than jerseys - common in the early years of pro football - so pants could vary. The Packers wore this uniform for two seasons while winning the 1929 and 1930 NFL championships.

1935-1936

In 1935, the Packers first donned what would become one of the most iconic combinations in all of American sports: gold numbers across a field of green. At first, the team introduced green with a plain dark-green jersey with gold numbers and green pants, then shifted to green-vest shirts with bright gold sleeves (from neck to wrist), numbers and pants, and tall plain-green socks. They wore a unique gold, wing-style leather helmet with three green vertical stripes. The Packers wore this uniform for two seasons and while winning the 1936 NFL championship.

1937-1948

In 1937, the NFL mandated that numbers were to be worn on both the front and back of all jerseys. The Packers returned to their original color scheme of navy blue and gold. The navy-blue jerseys featured gold numbers and a gold yoke on the shoulders. The players wore gold pants with navy-blue socks. The leather helmets were also gold and sometimes featured "Packers" printed on the front. The Packers wore this uniform until 1948 and a similar uniform without the gold yoke on the shoulders in 1949. They also wore several alternate uniforms occasionally during the period, as they sought to differentiate theirs from others in the league that were too similar. The Packers won the 1939 and 1944 championships in this uniform.
